Telegram Ads alternatives in 2026

Telegram Ads buys reach in 160 characters. A channel swap trades it, as a full post with media and buttons. What each costs and which one you can start.

In short. Telegram Ads sells reach: up to 160 characters with a link, no image and no buttons, paid for in TON, with half the revenue going to the channels that show it. A channel swap trades reach instead: your post goes in a partner’s channel and theirs goes in yours, as a full post with media and inline buttons, and no money moves at all. The swap’s historical weakness was that nothing stopped a partner deleting the post two hours later — which is what a deal with a status and a five-minute checker is for. Ads work with no audience of your own; a swap needs a channel worth being seen in. That is the row that decides.

Search “Telegram Ads alternatives” and most of what comes back is resellers selling you Telegram Ads. This page is not that. What follows is the other way of getting in front of someone else’s subscribers — trading the placement instead of buying it — and it is not better in every row.

What Telegram Ads actually is

A sponsored message in someone else’s channel, sold by Telegram, with the format fixed for everyone.

From Telegram’s own ads page: up to 160 characters, with a Telegram link. No image, no video, no inline buttons. Half the revenue goes to the owners of the channels where the message appears, which is why so many channels carry them. Payment is made in TON.

The format is the point. It is deliberately small and uniform, which makes it fast to launch, hard to make ugly, and impossible to make distinctive. Everyone’s ad looks like everyone’s ad.

The number nobody publishes

Telegram’s own page states no minimum budget.

That is worth sitting with. Search for the figure and you will get answers ranging from a few thousand euros to two million, all from resellers and agencies with a direct interest in the number they quote. The entry point depends on whether you go direct or through an agency, and on your market.

So the honest version is: you cannot find out what it costs to start without asking someone who sells it to you. For a large advertiser that is a phone call. For one person with a channel, it is the whole answer.

The other way, and why it used to fail

A swap is older than the ad platform: your channel mentions a partner, the partner mentions you, both audiences see something new, nobody pays.

It has always had one failure, and everyone who has done it knows the shape. The partner posts, waits two hours, deletes. You find out days later, or never. There is nothing to appeal to — a screenshot is not proof, and the only sanction available is telling people and hoping they believe you. Most creators discover this once, get burned, and quietly stop swapping.

Everything below exists because of that one failure.

What a swap looks like when it is enforced

The deal has a status. Draft, proposed, accepted, scheduled, live, completed — and two that matter: canceled and violated. The state is the record, so “he agreed” is not a claim either side has to make.

A checker runs every five minutes. Each live placement is verified to still exist. If it has been removed before the agreed time, a violation of type early delete is recorded against both the deal and the placement, and the deal flips to violated with the detection time attached.

Publishing failures are recorded too, and blamed correctly. If the post never went out, that is also a violation — but a missing promo text is the advertiser’s fault and does not mark the partner as a violator, while a dead channel or a rejected send does.

The post is a real post. Text, a photo or a video, and inline buttons with your own labels and links. A caption under media runs to 960 characters — the limit is 1,024 and the rest is held back for the tracking link. That is six times the Telegram Ads format, with media and buttons the ad format does not have at all.

Each deal gets its own invite link. Subscribers who arrive through that placement are counted against that placement rather than disappearing into the day’s total, so a partner who brought twelve people and a partner who brought two are distinguishable.

Browsing costs nothing, and so does accepting. The partner catalogue is open, and a free workspace can accept an incoming deal and carry it through to completion. Proposing your own deals is the Pro line, at 400 Telegram Stars per 30 days.

What is really missing, said plainly

Three things, and the first one disqualifies a lot of people.

  • You need something to trade. Ads work with no audience at all — you buy your way in front of other people’s subscribers on day one. A swap requires a channel somebody else wants to be seen in. If you launched last week, you have nothing to offer, and no amount of product fixes that.
  • No targeting. Telegram Ads targets by topic, language and specific channels. Here you choose a partner and get that partner’s audience exactly as it is. Reach per deal is one channel, not a network.
  • It does not pay you. Half of Telegram Ads revenue goes to the channels showing the ads. If your goal is to earn from your audience rather than grow it, that is money arriving, and a swap sends none — you are trading, not selling.

Honestly, where Telegram Ads wins

  • It works from zero. The single biggest one. No audience required.
  • Scale and targeting. A budget reaches thousands of channels; a swap reaches the one you agreed with.
  • It is a revenue stream, not just a cost. Carrying ads pays; carrying a swap does not.
  • No negotiation. No partner to find, message, agree terms with, or be let down by. You set a budget and it runs.
  • No obligation afterwards. A swap is a promise you also have to keep — your side of the placement is work you owe someone.

Where to start

Answer one question before anything else: do you have something to trade? Not “is your channel good” — does it have subscribers a peer would want to be in front of? If the honest answer is not yet, stop here and treat Telegram Ads, or any other paid placement, as the cost of getting to the point where trading becomes possible.

If the answer is yes, the first swap is worth doing badly rather than not at all. List the channel, accept one incoming deal — that part is free — and see what a placement in your channel is actually worth to somebody. The number that comes back on the invite link is more useful than any estimate you would have made.

What people usually ask

What is the alternative to Telegram Ads?
Trading the placement instead of buying it. Your channel mentions a partner, the partner mentions you, and no money moves. The historical weakness was enforcement — a post that quietly disappears two hours after it goes up — which is why the swap here runs as a deal with a status and a checker that verifies every five minutes that the placement is still there.
What does a Telegram Ads message actually look like?
Up to 160 characters with a Telegram link, per Telegram's own ads page. No image, no video, no buttons. That is the format, and it is the same for everyone.
How much does Telegram Ads cost to start?
Telegram's own page publishes no minimum. Reseller and agency quotes differ by three orders of magnitude — from a few thousand euros to figures in the millions — so the honest answer is that you cannot find out without asking one, and the number depends on your market and whether you go direct. Ads are paid for in TON.
Does a swap cost anything?
No money changes hands. You pay with a placement in your own channel, which means you need a channel someone wants to be seen in — if you have no audience yet, you have nothing to trade and this does not work for you. Accepting an incoming deal is free; proposing your own is a Pro feature at 400 Telegram Stars per 30 days.
What stops a partner deleting the post early?
A background pass every five minutes checks that each live placement still exists. If it is gone, a violation of type early delete is recorded against the deal and the placement, and the deal status changes to violated with the detection time attached.
Can I tell how many subscribers a placement brought?
Each deal carries its own invite link, so arrivals through that placement are counted separately rather than blurred into the day's total.
